Chicwish Haul & Review!!

Thursday, September 22, 2022

Let’s talk about 3 beautiful dresses that I recently ordered from Chicwish, for under $80 they’re so fun, colorful and cute. The first look is a two-piece lemon print set, it’s by far my favorite and just under $70. The set consists of an adorable crop top, with puffed sleeves. The chest has a rushed bodice, that ties in the back, and pairs with a matching maxi skirt. Both pieces are covered in an adorable lemon print. I love to wear my lemon raffia tote and matching earrings with this set, then I finish off the look with a pair of white, leather thong sandals. All in all, it’s one of my favorite looks from Chicwish, only second to the beautiful lemon print blue dress I wore to the Tulip Festival in Amsterdam. Remember that look? Well it too came from Chicwish

Now for the second and third dresses, they are just under $73. They're the same cut and style, with two very different print and color patterns. One is bright pink, yellow, orange and purple hues. The other is a mix of pink, purple, blue and yellow hues. Both are maxi dresses, with statement sleeves, and a cute matching belt. For the first dress I wore some yellow tassel earrings, pink sandals and an adorable Pom Pom ball, tassel trim bag, (which also came from Chicwish). This look is bursting with color so you know I loved it. Not to mention the dress is absolutely perfect for skirt fling shots.

Last but not least is the purple dress, which I paired with some pink raffia earrings and tambourine bag. The colors work in perfect harmony together, I just love wearing them. Now let's talk about the quality of all these beautiful looks. The material is made very well and with a nice thickness, so they will most definitely work for chilly weather as well. Especially when paired with a nice pink or white cardi, which I also got while shopping for these beautiful dresses. It's really nice when a look or staple piece works for all seasons. Especially when they are made of quality, for a good price like these. Needless to say I'll definitely be shopping with Chicwish again for the coming fall season, I saw so many beautiful pieces. I plan to wear the two-piece lemon set to Italy in two weeks, I can’t wait to shoot it while I’m on the Almafi coast. The entire city has a wonderful lemon theme, so it will work perfectly. My only complaint was sizing, the pieces are cut a bit small. I recommend reading any reviews on the item you're interested in to see if you need to size up or down. You will also get some good input on the fit and style of the item as well.

All in all, I'm super happy with this haul. I also got two chunky cardigan sweaters, one magenta and on a light lavender color. They too are of the utmost quality, so soft and thick. As soon as sweater weather kicks in, I'll make sure to share those items. I'll be sure to pair them with some other fab Chicwish pieces, to create some colorful fall looks. I'm so excited to start wearing fall and winter fashion again it's by far my favorite with the OTK/knee high boots, chunky cable knit pull over or cardigan sweaters, soft cotton hoodies, trench coats with fur lined hoods and collars. The cuteness just goes on and on! I honestly can't believe that yesterday was the the first day of fall, it seems like 2022 just flew bye in the blink of an eye.
OK luvs I'm about to sign off, for a quick shopping recap you can get all of these looks for yourself via my LTK- "@DanaStargazerTruitt. Please follow along there and on my other platforms listed below.
Lastly I have a Chicwish discount code "AU10" for you to use at checkout for 10% off orders of $80 or more.

Weekend Getaway to Ocean City MD

Ocean City, Maryland Fun

If you’re looking for a great location for a summer getaway, that’s affordable and not to far of a drive, then try Ocean City, Maryland. It’s perfect for families and couples alike, it’s also great for a girls trip, or some bachelor party fun. They literally cater to everyone. There is plenty for you to do, see, and eat. Especially with 10 miles of beaches and nearly 3 miles of boardwalk, all lined with unique little shops and restaurants. Trust me when I say you’ll never run out of things to do. A fun fact, Trip Advisor recently voted Ocean City, MD one of the Nation’s Top Beaches. There’s nothing like a trip to Ocean City. I’ve been going with my family ever since I can remember. Now that I’m an adult and have my own family, I still go and love it even more. It’s only a three hours from Baltimore, so it’s great for a weekend trip.

We arrived in Ocean City around lunch time, so we stopped into Shotti’s Point for lunch. Wow what a great menu! With all the choices we ordered pizza and chicken tacos. Sided with some tasty cocktails and delish street corn. After our yummy lunch with a view, we headed to our hotel: Aloft Ocean City, to check in, change, and head back out for some exploring and possibly get some sun. Our first stop was the boardwalk for some Kohr Brothers as always. It’s a fantastic ice cream spot with the most amazing soft serve. I always go whenever I go to the beach. I picked the vanilla and strawberry swirl, with rainbow sprinkles, in a chocolate lined waffle cone. Talk about amazing, it’s a MUST try spot if you’ve never been. The Boardwalk has tons of great restaurants where you can find food for every different taste.

While I was enjoying my ice cream, Rob was a few stores down getting some Thrasher’s fries. They’re his favorite boardwalk treat, which I must admit are pretty amazing. Especially when they’re salted, crispy and hot. Then we strolled the boardwalk while we enjoyed our snacks, we also did a little shopping here and there. It was a relaxing afternoon to say the least. We were having such a good time that we didn’t realize it was already 7pm, until Rob said he was hungry and ready for dinner. That’s when we headed over to Liquid Assets for a bite to eat, and boy am I glad we did. Everything we ordered was beyond delish, especially the dessert.

I ordered a potato and leek soup, with a fried / BBQ style chicken. Sounds odd, but I can assure you it was so good. Rob ordered a deconstructed, short rib, pot pie along with a salad. I had some of the pot pie and holy moly talk about good. For dessert I got the ice cream sandwich, it’s basically a yummy warm and soft donut, with vanilla ice cream in the middle. Then finally it’s garnish in an outta-this-world bourbon caramel sauce. Let me tell you, it’s the best dessert I've had in some time. My mouth is watering thinking about it now, that caramel sauce was a dream. Once we finished dinner, we scrambled to the Bay side so we could catch the sunset, it’s absolutely amazing. The sky turns so many different rich shades of red, orange, purple and pink. Then on the ocean side, (if you’re willing to get up at 5:30-6am in the summer to get to the beach) you can catch the most beautiful of sunrise as well. It’s the most amazing vibe to just walk the beach or boardwalk first thing in the morning. The cool ocean air is just amazing, there’s no better feeling.

After enjoying the sunset, Rob and I headed back to Aloft Hotel for the night. The last 3 years in a row we have always stayed at Aloft. It’s a great hotel because it’s affordable, roomy and super clean. Not to mention the beds are super comfortable, and the staff is always friendly. Lastly and very important to us, they’re pet friendly, which I love because usually Piper is with us. Then there’s the pool and bar out back, which you can sit by and order a cocktail or some food. It’s the best!!

The next morning we got up early and headed to Berlin for the day, we heard the area is fun, has lots of good food, as well as shopping. First things first we stopped into Assateague Surf Shop for breakfast on the way there. I got a yummy pineapple and kiwi açaí bowl, Rob got a panini and smoothie combo. It’s such a fun little shop, especially if you’re into surfing. After fueling up, we stopped by Assateague Farm to get some flowers for our planned shoot in downtown Berlin, then we headed to the Mermaid Museum for some fun. I had no idea just how many mermaid collectables there were. They have a wall of Mermaid sightings, as well as interactive art that you can get into for some fun pictures.

By the time we were done at the Mermaid Museum it was around 1pm, so we headed over to a local farm to table spot called: Blacksmith Restaurant for lunch. The menu had a good variety of items, so I ordered the mushroom bisque soup and a fried soft shell crab BLT. Rob got a Cobb salad and a fried chicken sandwich. The restaurant had a fantastic small town vibe, and everyone was so friendly.

After lunch we explored downtown Berlin, there were so many little shops, clothing stores, and of course a spot for ice-cream called Island Creamery. I even managed to find a sidewalk mural for a cute ice cream shot. Then we stopped into a boutique where I found a colorful dress, along with a pair of the most unique denim shorts. I can’t wait to shoot and share them with you guys on Instagram.

Our next stop was Windmill Creek Vineyard, for some delicious wine and beautiful views. It was only about 10 minutes outside of downtown Berlin. We sat down and relaxed, while we watched the ducks and chickens roam around the property. It was such a mellow vibe, I was really surprised at how fun our day in Berlin was. There is so much to do, it’s a great little town. Not to mention that ice cream was amazing, I’m still thinking about the yummy birthday cake flavor ….lol!

Once we got back into Ocean City from Berlin (it’s only a 15 min drive), we stopped into The Crab Bag for dinner, where we had a wide array of steamed and boiled crabs, shrimp, cocktails and then some. I got a cocktail called the electric pear, it was beyond good. When it comes to cocktails I love the fruity flavors, so this one hit the spot. Needless to say we more than enjoyed our dinner, after which we returned to Aloft for our last night in Ocean City, MD.

The next morning we got up super early to catch the sunrise on the beach, wow is all I can say. It’s absolutely perfect. I wish I could see it that way every morning. How amazing would that be? After a long walk on the beach we headed out for breakfast at The Fractured Prune, where we got some fresh, warm, and delicious donuts, sided with a strawberry smoothie.

We took our donuts and sat down by the water, where we happily enjoyed them while we talked for a good two hours. It’s moments like those that make a trip so special, not to mention that amazing ocean breeze and view. There’s only one thing to do when you take a trip to Ocean City, ENJOY!! Enjoy the rides, the beach, the food and then some. It’s the perfect place to leave all your day to day craziness behind.
We spent most of the morning on the beach and boardwalk until around noon, then we headed back to Aloft to get packed up and check out. Sadly it was time to go home, but we decided to make one last stop for lunch at Seacrets on our way out. I’m so glad we did because wow what a cool restaurant, it’s got such a great Jamaican theme.

They have tables on the beach, some in the water and others up under palm trees in the shade. The drinks were fantastic, as was the food. My favorite being the crab dip by far, it’s a must try item. I had the beef stew and Rob got the jerk chicken bowl. It was the perfect way to end our trip. Like I said, f you’re ever looking for a great location for a summer getaway, look no further because Ocean City, Maryland is it! I’ll definitely be back in September for the Oceans Calling Music Festival Sept 30-Oct 2nd, due to Dave Mathew’s and Lumineers performing. It sounds like it will be some serious fun, as OCMD always is!

Ps…Make sure you follow me on Instagram if you aren’t, I just posted reels of my 4 favorite crab dishes and favorite ice cream spots in Ocean City, Maryland. You don’t want to miss these mouthwatering recommendations, including a Bloody Mary that is an entire seafood feast. Sounds amazing right?
See y’all there and Happy Traveling!!

Dallas, Texas Ice cream Tour 2022!!

Dallas Ice Cream Tour!

I know it’s been a while since my last post, I’ve been so swamped with work and basic every day craziness. I also had some issues with my blog and signing on. Either way I’m super happy to say yah girl is back. I’ve been doing a ton of traveling for ice cream as usual, which I’m excited to share with you. I’ll start off with my most recent trip to Dallas, Texas, which we spent most of hanging out with my good friend Eve of @TheStyleAndFitnessWithEve, and exploring for ice cream. Whilst I didn’t find many new freakshake spots, I did discover some regular favorites with locations in the area. I also found some new spots with delish sundaes and cones. First let’s talk about the beautiful hotel we stayed at called The Lorenzo Hotel. Wow talk about a wonderful place to stay. It’s called an artful hotel, which is filled with colorful art and striking details all throughout. If I tried I couldn’t find a hotel that matches my personality more. We had so much fun checking it out, it’s like a little art gallery.

From the moment you walk into the lobby you are immersed
in color. The entire hotel is covered in art, both inside and out. We stayed in the Tina Turner suite, which was yes you guessed it, decked out in Tina Turner vibes all throughout. There’s also some fun history with Tina Turner and this hotel, she once stayed there before the building became The Lorenzo. Pretty cool tidbit of info isn’t it? Now getting back to our amazing room, I want to mention the colorful headboard, comfy bed and adorable living room area, surrounded by huge windows. Which we really enjoyed watching the sunset and sunrise from. You also get a look at downtown Dallas, which I might add is pretty beautiful.

(View from our room at Lorenzo Hotel)

Some of the amenities include a 24 hour gym, a swimming pool equipped with cabanas, plenty of colorful seating, and sun chairs. Not to forget the two on site restaurants, one being a restaurant/bar down in the lobby (The Lorenzo Kitchen), along with a cute little taco stand in the front, across from the entrance (Taco Enzo). I only got a chance to eat at the spot inside, wow was the chicken tortilla soup good. We also decided to give the room service a try, hence one of my evening cravings for sweets…. plus a little champagne. I can’t tell you what a delicious treat that was.

                (Lorenzo Hotel)

The Lorenzo was an amazing choice for our stay, to this day I’m so glad we found it. Now let’s talk about the amazing desserts and foods we stuffed our faces with while in Dallas. After all that was the whole point of our trip!!! A couple weeks before going I decided it was time to go somewhere, and boy am I glad I did. Along with The Lorenzo, this entire trip was one, out of the park experience, after another. Let’s start off with The XOXO Dining Room, a pink themed brunch spot. Once we arrived in Dallas, checked in and got settled a bit, we showered and headed right back out to meet my friend Eve, for a late Sunday brunch. This restaurant was insane, not only was in pink inside and out. It was also loaded with all kinds of fun spots for pictures. Because it was the eve of Valentine’s Day, we got the Valentine’s Day Brunch. It consisted of an entrée for each person, a mimosa, and lastly a tray of treats for the table. The price point was per person, available for tables/groups only. Of everything we ordered I really enjoyed the chicken and waffles, which just happened to be pink. So cute! I also ordered a cotton candy cocktail, as well as trying some of Eve’s pink drink. The drinks were really good, so much so that we ordered more rounds. Hey I was on vacation …lol!

(Next 4 - XOXO Dining Room)

After brunch we went back to The Lorenzo, and settled in for the night. On day two we got up early and discovered a great little breakfast spot called All Good Café, in Deep Ellum. It looks like a little hole in the wall, but man was the food good. We ate there every morning but one, just to give you an idea. After breakfast we checked out the area around the restaurant, it’s full of so many stunning murals. We got a bunch of fabulous and super colorful fashion shots.

(Mural by pool at Lorenzo Hotel)

(Next 2 - Murals in Deep Ellum area)

As you can see there was one to match every cute outfit or bag for that matter. After shooting for a few hours we went back to the hotel to meet up with Eve, then head off for some sweet treats. The first spot we hit up in Dallas was called Zero Gradi, an authentic Italian pastry shop that blew my mind. The cream filled croissants, coffee and gelato are phenomenal! They also have a sister restaurant located next store called 400 Gradi, which we stopped into for a very late lunch. It’s nothing but legit amazing and authentic Italian food. After we filled our bellies we stopped into Aqua S to get some soft serve. I tried the red velvet and sea salt swirl, with some caramel popcorn. Rob got the same, but he chose a roasted marshmallow as his garnish.

                                                                          (400 Gradi)

It was such a unique and delicious flavor. I’m also excited to find that they have a location in Virginia Beach, which means I’ll definitely be stopping in when we’re there in a few months. Our next ice cream stop was one of my favorites, it’s called The Yard Milkshake Bar. When I found out they had a Dallas location I made it a point to stop in. Each location has shakes on the menu that are specific to that area, along with a secret menu, which I was more than excited to try.
Check out how colorful and amazing looking, they always have beautiful shakes. They too have a location in Virginia Beach, along with many others all over the US.

We spent a couple hours shooting shakes and talking, then we went to grab an early dinner and head back to The Lorenzo for the night. We were a bit exhausted and needed some rest. Over the next three days we hit up so many great spots. The Mallow Box, Amorino Gelato, Somi Somi, Snow City, & Cow Tipping Creamery. We also stopped into The Sugar Factory for lunch, where we got their Valentine’s Day shake. Each and every spot we had the pleasure of stopping into was beyond fantastic. On my Instagram I'll be doing a review of each spot and the treat or treats we tried there, in my coming Saturday, Dessert Diva posts. So keep an eye out. Lastly if you would like to see video content of each item, then check out and follow my Pinterest or TikTok. The content on each platform is different, so they are all worth following.

                                                              (Mallow Box)

I have to say our Dallas trip was fabulous, and wow it’s a great city for color, fun and ice cream. I probably gained 10lbs, but we had fun which was worth all the calories. One thing I’m so sad to say is I found out a spot I have been stalking on Instagram, for over a couple years, opened up a Dallas location a couple months before my trip, so I didn’t know it existed. I’ve been wanting to go FOREVER!!. When I got home I realized I missed it which really ticked me off, because the only locations I’ve known them to have are in California. Now that I know they have a new location in Detroit as well, I definitely plan to travel there so I can go. It’s called House of Chimney Cakes, and wow are they beautiful. I’ll also be going to Amsterdam, Paris, and London in May. Best believe I have an insane list of places I plan to visit. If you've been and know and great spots, please comment with them below. I’ll definitely be putting together a huge post for that trip. But before that, I’ll be sharing part 2 of my Disney World trip. Now that I’m back online blog wise, and I have tons of content to share.
So keep an eye out!
